How to Import Your Google Maps History
Step 1: Download from Google Takeout
- Go to Google Takeout.
- Click Deselect all, scroll down and check Timeline (Location History).
- Click Next step, choose export frequency (Once), and click Create export.
- Download the ZIP file once ready and extract it to find your location files.
Step 2: Format CSV Database
Convert your JSON or KML logs into a single .csv file containing the following 7 required columns (headers must match exactly):
Timeline Playback
Scrub through years of travels with speed controls. Automatic longitude-based local timezone estimation adjusts clock offsets.
UNESCO Site Proximity
Cross-reference routes against the World Heritage database. Visited locations are automatically highlighted and linked.
